Jade
Esteban Estrada
will perform the comedy Tortilla
Heaven
about the first
generation feeling at home, the second generation
abandoning their roots and the third generation trying to understand
everything without knowing the language of the past.
When the generations meet, they all can speak the same language, but
thats the only easy part of their journey.
"Im really excited to see the show, Isau Metes, president of PRIDE,
said. PRIDE is one of the organizations bringing Tortilla Heaven to
campus.
Last year in ICONS'
he had such energy, she said. Its cool to watch him transform in his
show.
This is
Estradas second appearance on campus, as he performed ICONS
last year. Tortilla Heaven is his fourth one-man traveling show. He has
been featured on Comedy Central and HBO Latino.
He is really personable, Karen Granberg, student organization sponsor,
said. Its not a show, he really interacts.
Tortilla Heaven will be performed in both Spanish and English.
Celeste Angela Estrada wrote the play, winning the Gertrude Stein Literary
Award. The director of the play is David Miguel Estrada.
There is no admission charge. This play was co-sponsored by PRIDE, Latinos
Uniting, WSC-PEN, Drama Club, International Club, Student Activities
Board, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Wayne Lutheran Campus Ministry and
Sisters of Notre Dame.
