  In 1994, Jade Esteban Estrada won a contest called the Funniest Amateur Comic

in New York. Although he considers that the start of his stand-up career, in the following years he continued to pursue a career in music and dance. These days, all the elements of Estrada's life are coming together in "ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 2," in which he portrays Alexander the Great, Queen Christina of Sweden, Susan B. Anthony, Billie Jean King, Harvey Milk and 9/11 hero Mark Bingham. ("ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1 featured Sappho, Michelangelo, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Sylvia Rivera and Ellen DeGeneres.")

     "My style has been approaching laughter through truth," said Estrada, who has performed at 144 Pride festivals over the past few years.

     His on-stage transformation from one character to the next keeps the audience in stitches. "With "ICONS 1", I found that was the meat of the entertainment," he said.
