What is ICONS?

ICONS is a solo musical comedy that tells the story of the LGBT experience through the voices of Sappho, Michelangelo, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Sylvia Rivera and Ellen DeGeneres.


Why is it "Vol. 1?"
ICONS is a trilogy. There is an ICONS Vol. 2 and ICONS Vol. 3.

 

 

How long is ICONS?
ICONS runs 75 minutes with no intermission.

 

 

What technical requirements are there to host the show at my university?
ICONS requires a CD compatible sound system with speakers and monitors onstage. Boundary microphones are requested for vocal sound. Properties include: One 6-ft long conference table, six chairs and one full length mirror onstage. That's it.

 

 

Would Jade be willing to do a Q & A session with the students after the show?
Jade Esteban Estrada is always delighted to speak to the students after the show.

 

 

Does Jade do a lecture on gay history or politics?
Jade Esteban Estrada has lectured many times in addition to his performance on LGBT history, politics, Latino culture and religion.

Jade Esteban Estrada is a singer/dancer/actor/comedian who has been featured on Comedy Central, PBS and HBO. Out Magazine calls him the "first gay Latin star." NBC News calls him "America's Prince of Pride." His music can be heard on the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning police drama "The Shield."
