What
do Winston Churchill,
Ronald
Reagan, Bob Hope,
Joan
Crawford, Mae West,
Johnny Depp, Muhammad Ali, and
Pope John Paul II have in common with
renowned gay showman
Jade Esteban Estrada?
All have been honored with the title of Kentucky
Colonel, Kentucky's highest acknowledgment of
ambassadors of goodwill and fellowship around the world.
What most of them lack in common with
Estrada
(with the possible exception of Crawford, West and JP2) is the
ability to fill out a dress and hold an audience enrapt with a
hysterical history lesson.
Bringing to life a passel of these new characters,
Col. Estrada
returns to Houston this month with his "ICONS:
The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 3." The
award-winning solo musical comedy show, scheduled May 9, 8 p.m.,
benefits the Gulf Coast Archive and Museum of GLBT History and
GALLO, the Gay and Lesbian Latin Organization.
