Jade
Esteban Estrada
stars in an amazing tour-de-force of lesbian and
gay
historic characters
in his
ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1.
This one-man show is an
extraordinary journey through gay and lesbian culture, using characters
that, in some way, have changed the way gay and lesbian people have lived
in this world. Before the audience’s very eyes, he switches characters
with a quick change of a wig, costume and complete physical presence,
making history come alive through monologue and song. He takes you on an
emotional roller coaster from laughing out loud to poignant silence as the
character and audience become aware of the realities of living a gay life
within a non-gay world.
Estrada frequently
leaves the stage and interacts with the audience members in character to
truly allow the spectators to connect with history. As a good live performer
should be, he is quick to pull his fans into the show. He is a very
likable personality on stage, with a beautiful voice and brilliant
physical understanding of his characters.
Estrada brings his
ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the
World, Vol. 2 to Nashville this Thursday, at Club Blu. Show times are 7:00
p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Be there and ready for a theatrical journey through
history as
Estrada tackles a whole new series of historical characters
through songs, laughter and tears.
