I
attended
the
performance
of
Jade
Esteban
Estrada’s
ICONS:
The
Lesbian
and
Gay
History
of
the
World,
Vol.
2 at
Metropolitan
Community
Church
of
Omaha
on
the
evening
of
October
22.
Since
I
was
privileged
to
see
his
Omaha
premiere
of
ICONS:
The
Lesbian
and
Gay
History
of
the
World,
Vol.
1 a
few
months
ago,
I
knew
I
would
be
in
for
a
rich
treat,
and
I
was
not
one
bit
disappointed!
During
this
one-hour
show,
beginning
with
his
impersonation
of
Alexander
the
Great
and
continuing
on
nonstop
until
he
performs
as
Mark
Bingham
(a
Flight
93
victim
on
September
11,
2001),
Estrada’s
performances
are
simply
mesmerizing!
He
truly
“becomes”
the
six
characters
that
he
portrays
in
the
show.
His
choices
of
“gay
icons”
are
amazing.
They
represent
both
genders
and
completely
different
characters
at
different
times
in
the
history
of
the
world,
and
that’s
one
of
the
things
that
made
the
show
so
satisfying
for
the
audience.
He
has
performed
ICONS
Vol.
1 a
total
of
218
times!
Estrada
brings
great
knowledge
of
each
of
the
characters
he
depicts
and
with
that
knowledge;
he
brings
great
passion
and
sensitivity
to
each
one.
He
comes
onto
the
stage
dressed
in
black,
but
behind
the
black
he
is
wearing
a
beautiful
costume
reminiscent
of
Alexander
the
Great.
From
the
time
he
enters
until
the
curtain
call,
Jade
never
leaves
the
stage.
He
changes
costumes
right
on
stage
and
is
delivering
monologue
the
entire
time
he
is
changing
into
the
next
costume!
It
is
simply
amazing.
It
was
announced
that
Estrada
has
debuted
his
newest
show,
ICONS:
The
Lesbian
and
Gay
History
of
the
World,
Vol.
3
and
plans
to
return
to
Omaha
in
the
fall
of
2007
with
the
latest
version.
It
was
very
much
worth
my
time
and
energy
to
see
Mr.
Estrada
perform
---
he
will
make
you
laugh,
listen,
cringe
and
cry.
He
has
a
very
good
singing
voice
and
is a
member
of
the
Metropolitan
Community
Church
of
San
Antonio
Choir.
Plan
now
to
attend
ICONS
Volume
3
next
year
–
you
will
never
regret
seeing
this
incredible
talent
perform
a
very
unusual,
creative
and
energetic
show!
